OnePlus Announces Android 7.0 Nougat Update For OnePlus 3 And OnePlus 3T.
After announcing the release of Android Nougat update for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T users before the year end, OnePlus CEO Carl Pei has now announced the stable release of OxygenOS 4.0 which is based on Android 7.0 Nougat to its users. The Android 7.0 Nougat-based OxygenOS 4.0 update will be pushed out over-the-air in what the company calls an "incremental roll out", which means that it will roll out in batches with only a few users receiving it on the first day, and the others should receive it within the next few days.
Though the update is not based on the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat but on Android Nougat 7.0, it includes better shelf customisation, new notifications and settings design, multi-window view, support for direct reply of notifications, custom DPI support as well as the ability to choose status bar icons. This update also makes Quick Launch available to third-party apps.
From now on, with the roll out of the new update, both the OnePlus devices, OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T will run on the same software and may also receive simultaneous updates in future as well.
However, if users wish to to try the Android 7.0 Nougat on OnePlus 3T and don't want to wait for the OTA to arrive, they can manually download the Open Beta 1 update and sideload it to their device. But, bear in mind, by doing so will put them on the beta release cycle for future OTA updates.
The Open Beta 1 release for OnePlus T has also been announced by OnePlus.
