Leaked images of the Chinese smartphone Xiaomi Mi 5s which is to be unveiled tomorrow in China are making rounds on the net.
The images show an iPhone-like circular home button with two capacitive buttons for back and menu. The button could be a non-clickable one, similar to the one on the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. It also features a dual camera, force touch display, Qualcomm's ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, front-panel with earpiece, sensor and selfie camera above the display. These buttons also seem to have blue backlighting. From the photo, we can also see the device has a metal frame and 2.5D curved glass on the front panel.
Xiaomi has been putting up teasers of the new smartphone with an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner that uses Qualcomm's Snapdragon Sense ID feature. The ultrasonic fingerprint scanner is that it can read fingerprints even if your fingers are sweaty or oily. Another leak shows a render of Mi 5s showing front and back panel whose design is similar to the existing Mi 5 with front and back glass panel, and metal frame on the side.
The render also shows a vertical dual camera setup on the back with an LED flash. There is no word on how the dual camera setup will work. It could either be Qualcomm's announced 'Clear Sight' technology which uses one color sensor and one monochrome sensor for better low-light photography, while improving the dynamic range and sharpness. Or, the setup could be similar to the one in Redmi Pro, where one camera captures photos and other captures depth, to add DSLR-like blur effects later.
Xiaomi Mi 5s is may also have a force touch display like the iPhone 6s and iPhone 7's 3D Touch display. The force Touch Display can sense the amount of pressure applied on the screen and distinguish between a tap, a press and a tap and hold. These can have shortcuts to quickly access different functions of the app.
