India’s largest and one of the oldest bicycle manufacturer Hero Cycles unveiled a new brand Lectro in India. Lectro offers a range of Electric Pedal Assisted Cycles or EPACs for the Indian market.
The brand offers 4 variants ranging from Rs. 42,000 to Rs. 83,000. Slowly it plans to offer at least 20 variants in the EPAC category.
All Lectro cycles run on detachable Lithium-ion battery packs that can be charged in around 4 hours to travel 50km. The three point led indicator displays the charge level of the battery.
The bicycles also have Brushless Direct Current (BLDC) motors that are a type of synchronous motor which is controlled by a controller located below the battery box. The cycles have a top speed of 25 kmph.
Other highlights include fat tyres, including the big bouncy 4’’/10cm wide Kenda fat-bike tires on the Renew model, and suspension front forks.
Hero cycles plans to introduce the four models in Bengaluru, Pune, Mumbai and NCR in the first phase and then across other states, namely—Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and other cities of Maharashtra by the end of the year.
