Apple has partnered with Flipkart and Infibeam for online retail of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus which will launch in India on October 7. But both the e-commerce sites would be selling different Apple products. According to what Apple is calling “Authorised Resellers for Internet or catalogue sales” in India, Flipkart will sell iPhones, iPads and Macs whereas Infibeam will only sell the iPhone and iPad portfolio of devices.
The partnership works well both for Apple and Flipkart. For Apple, it ensures that the iPhones are sold at the pricing fixed by Apple and not at discounted rates to beat the competition as it had happened last year with the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus where Flipkart, Amazon and Paytm started discounting iPhones to gain GMV. For Flipkart on the other hand, the deal would be good as it would be getting the products directly from the official Apple distributor so shortage of product won't be a problem for it at all which is predicted in case it is bought from third-party retailers.
As far as the pricesof the new Apple devices go, the iPhone 7 will start from Rs 60,000 for the 32GB variant and go up to Rs 80,000 for the 256GB variant. Prices for the iPhone 7 Plus start from Rs 72,000 for the 32GB variant, and go up to Rs 92,000 for the 256GB variant. The accessories would cost anywhere between Rs 900 to Rs 15,400 for a pair of AirPods.
On October 7, Apple will also be launching the Watch Series 2 in India. The prices for the smartwatch start from Rs 32,900 for the gold, rose gold, space grey aluminum, or space black stainless steel variants. The ceramic Apple Watch Edition is priced at Rs 110,900. The Nike+ Apple Watch Series 2 variant will be available for Rs 32,900 for 38mm, and Rs 34,900 for the 42mm variants.
Also, ahead of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus launch in India, Apple has also reduced the prices of the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus and the iPhone SE. Apple has also discontinued the 16GB variant of iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. Only the 32GB and 128GB variants will be available. The iPhone 6s will now be available for Rs 50,000 and Rs 60,000 for the 32GB and 128GB variants respectively, while the iPhone 6s Plus will be available for Rs 60,000 and Rs 70,000 respectively. The iPhone SE will be available in 16GB and 64GB variants, priced at Rs 39,000 and Rs 44,000 respectively.
