Everything that you need to know about 5G

1G, 2G, 3G, 4G and finally 5G. The latest mobile technology that is all set to give its user high-er speed and above the rest experience. The 5G wave, that is about to hit the globe in 2019 has created talks all across and so we at Comet Busters decided to walk you through the whole thing!

5G-What's that?

5G is the fifth generation cellular technology that does more than increasing downloading and uploading speeds over the mobile network. It also reduces the latency, which is- the time taken by a network to respond, it increases the energy efficiency and offers more stable network connections. On its full go, 5G will provide a speed of 1Gbps, which is 100 times the existing data speeds. Thrilling, right?Let us put to you this way, with 5G you can download the HD version of your favourite game within seconds and you can watch online movies online with no buffering. 5G will be a wider area in the frequency spectrum too, which means, that the range of frequencies where technologies such as LTE, Bluetooth, 4G,3G etc work, it will ensure that there is no network congestion.

How will 5G be deployed?

The deployment of 5G, just like 4G, will happen with the auction of the millimetre-wave spectrum, which is the frequency range between 28 to 100 GHz. In the US, which has been the centre of the recent 5G-related reports, three mobile carriers have taken the task to upgrade the existing 4G infrastructure to 5G. While Sprint and T-Mobile have approached the Federal Trade Commission, which is the authority that takes care of frequency auctions in the US, to allow them to merge so that they are able to utilize their resources to provide better services, Verizon is going solo and it has already launched its "5G" home service in Houston, Indianapolis, Los Angeles and Sacramento. Additionally, AT&T is also planning to deploy a true 5G network next year.

India and 5G

The telecom regulatory authority of India (TRAI) has started the process of auctioning the 5G spectrum in India. And if we listen to analysts, India will fully adopt 5G by 2022.
